In celebration of a few beloved Canadian cultural icons, this postage stamp concept pays homage to a little sketch comedy TV show from my youth. Thirty Helens agree: it was pretty funny. Each stamp began as a pencil sketch, which was then scanned and rendered digitally. The final stage involved presenting the collection in a “first day of issue” page. The colours and illustration style are heavily influenced by the work of Dave Perillo and Tom Whalen—this throwback to the retro cartoon look of the 1950s and ‘60s suits the show’s offbeat, eccentric tone.
