In 2019, I joined the design team at Focus Media Group, which publishes a series of digital and print magazines aimed at the business, construction, and manufacturing sectors. My role involved creating layouts for feature articles, as well as advertisements for supporting vendors and suppliers.
Naturally, a clear framework had already been established for the sake of consistency across the magazines, standardizing basic layout and design choices (margins, column widths, font sizes and styles, etc.) My challenge was to make each article feel unique and reflective of the subject matter, rather than a byproduct of a rigid template.
