Following the retirement of its founder, Halifax-based exporter Ito Seafoods decided to mark the transition in leadership with a refresh of its brand identity. My task was to develop a visual style that was clean, distinct, and modern to attract new buyers, while still honouring the company's heritage and well-established reputation among its existing client base.
The logo draws inspiration from Japanese design and markings used on international shipping crates. I opted for a texture treatment that would convey a rustic, organic feeling as a counterpoint to the crisp, minimalistic design elements found across the website and print marketing materials.
